PHOTO CONTEST - Phalanx Mountain
Shots from a day tour up and around Phalanx Mountain behind Blackcomb resort.
After a bootpack up the SE gully to Phalanx summit, we were rewarded with a 2500’ run down Phalanx Glacier and beyond into treeline. Classic 90’s Powder Eights gave way to powder 11’s as the terrain got steeper and more enticing.
A bluebird day turned a little cloudy in the afternoon lending some lovely haze to the sun which allowed for some creative silhouettes. The crisp morning light gave good definition to the bootpacking shots, while the low angle light and rolling features of Phalanx Glacier gave some deep texture to the shots from later in the day.
