Unofficial opening of Whistler Blackcomb Nov 19
Whistler Blackcomb has not made any official statements on an early opening yet, but all rumours point to Nov 19, 7 days early. That means lift accessed backcountry is only a week away!
Blackcomb Glacier has been the hotspot for pre-season turns this year with lots of hiking and biking up to the snowline with touring gear.
Quote from WB's website "The base at Pig Alley (1,650 meters on Whistler Mountain) is currently 60 cm and growing fast. "
Alpine snowpack never really went to ground over the summer so less rocks to hit higher up for sure.
Mike Douglas is currently camping out in the patrol shack on Whistler peak for 'embedded' campaign. So hopefully with the storms rolling through this week mountain operations will give the go ahead by the weekend.
