Wedge Ice Cave, Whistler
This is one of my favorite hikes around Whistler. Head past the village to the turnoff for Wedgemount Lake in Garibaldi Park about 10 minutes north of town. It's a very steep trail so get ready for a good workout. The reward at the top is well worth the effort!
There is an incredible camp site at the top by the lake if you want to climb Wedge (the highest mountain around Whistler) or any of the other mountains surrounding the lake. This is a popular ski touring / ski mountaineering spot in the winter time as well.
There's an Instagram filter on this but the lake is almost nearly this green in real life. Get up there and check it out for yourself, it's incredible.
Once you reach the lake, head over to the far left side and there's a trail leading over the boulder field up to the toe of the glacier. When I moved to Whistler 11 years ago this glacier ended right in the lake. It is receding every year.
Not too bad for the back yard. BC rocks.
