April 04 White Queen
Still snowing at whitewater today and White Queen was looking pretty inviting on the drive up, so we signed out and took the Silver King Lift up and quickly gained the ridge. Once on White Queen we discovered that she was already baking in the sun - working on her tan. We decided to stick to the trees for safety and for better snow and we were right on both accounts.
Anything in the open was sluffing and cracking and was pretty heavy from the noon sun. In the tight trees it was a different story though and the snow was well preserved and well worth the hike. We bailed out on the last 200' of open skiing in favour of ducking in skiers left and hooking back up to the last switch back on the Whitewater cat track to head back to the lodge and save ourselves the 15min walk and skiing heavy snow .
May try her again tomorrow as long as the sun does not come out again.
