Evening Ridge Snow Pack
Some good Beta via the Public Mountain Conditions Report:
Some quick observations from an AST 1 course today:
1500m – 60cm
1600m – 75cm
1700m – 80cm
1900m - 95cm (speculation after storm on observed amounts from Friday)
About 15cm of cold powder overlies old interfaces (like soft slab in wind exposed areas).
Still not enough snow depth to cover logs, brush and surface roughnesses below about 1700m. An unsolidified base makes for challenging trail breaking around buried obstacles.
Nice skiing in quality snow to be had at higher elevations though (where no previous wind effect exists).
