Feb 06th White Queen
The sun finally shone today so we headed up to Whitewater and decided to ski White Queen, we were worried about it being skied out or a possible sun crust and we were correct on both accounts.
This was by no mean 'survival skiing' but it was not great either, it is in desperate need of more snow. There were many older tracks which would try to trip you up and you had to keep on your toes or else you would end up eating it. There was also a thin sun crust which did not prove to be a big challenge but it did limit the enjoyment as it was not blower snow.
Almost to the bottom we opted for the ski traverse to the last Whitewater cat track switchback as we had had enough. It may be a different story if the sun come out another day and cooks it a bit more to soften it up and with Temps forecasted well above normal and some sunny periods this could very well happen!
