Feb 07 Kutetl - still some powder out there.
Today was a beautiful sunny day and we hit first chair [almost] in order to get into Ketutl and see if there was anything worth skiing. We gained the ridge line after riding the Silver King chair at Whitewater and headed along the ridge to gain the top of five mile. After a brief boot pack we were looking into Kutetl and there were few tracks and lots of good snow to be found.
We skied down 1500' to the valley bottom and returned for a second lap – the snow was light and dry and approximately 15cm deep. It was hot in the noon day sun but the skiing was a welcome treat given our recent drought. After our second lap we headed up to the saddle to ski out via scob's knob and Goat slide.
A great day to be out touring and we were well rewarded.
