Hummer Time--Mid-May Lap
The sun was shining so we headed up to Whitewater for a quick tour. Looking up at the chutes off the peak, the cornices were super giant so we decided to skin up and take a look. It was late in the day and the sun was out so we wanted to be cautious. The up-track was fine; total coverage just above the parking lot. We went up and along Blaster's Ridge, then wrapped around to the Hummer Shafts. The first one (A) look a little dodgy so we dropped into B. The snow up top was skiable but challenging. There were a couple runnels running down the slope and the odd stick and stone chunk of debris. Toward the bottom of the bowl it got a little more "even" but it was also sloppier and harder on the quads. All in all a nice afternoon in the sun. It's incredible how much cover there still is up high!
