Kutetl = Sun + Powder
Spent the morning in Kutetl Drainage at Whitewater - with a warm, sunny day like today pretty much everything in the backcountry was getting skied. Quite a bit of traffic in Kutetl given the conditions in Five Mile. East facing Kutetl always seems to hold it's snow well and be more sheltered from any wind events. We saw three other parties in the basin but still lots of good lines to be had.
(Give a click on the images below if you want to see them a bit bigger.)
The ridge walk proved to be interesting given the wind of recent days, and if you find a tail attachment to a pair of BD skins - well, that would be mine.
Once up the ridge and through the death traverse we got to see how hammered Five Mile Basin was due to the recent wind - no powder on the top 200' thats for sure.
Kutetl never fails. Always good turns to be had and the recent 23cm of storm snow was still all there.
A bit of traffic in the Basin today given how wind blown Five Mile was - plenty of room to share though.
Exit via the col into Scob's and Goat Slide.
