Laps on Acidophilus and White Queen at Whitewater
With a snow pack of 210 cm the backcountry around Whitewater Ski Resort near Nelson is about as good as it gets.
We took the Silver King lift up and skinned to the ridge where we dropped into a north facing area called Acidophilus. The snow was light and super fluffy-deep and the 1000' shot was like skiing in March. Full coverage and not another skier in sight. We put a skin track out towards Black Queen and then popped onto the south aspect and skied down the front face of White Queen for a 2000' decent that is always good (at least until the sun comes out and cooks it).
It was so good we had to go back on Sunday and do it all over again.
If you are interestd in the route have a look at the GPS tracking courtesy of the Suunto Ambit we are currently testing. It can be found on the Suunto site Moves Count.
