PHOTO COMP - Living the Dream
My altimeter read 2149M… three hours earlier it was at 1860M, making this perhaps the slowest accent in touring history. Looking at the three slack-jawed grins around me, I could tell I wasn’t the only one who didn’t care how much vert we bagged that day. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and we were looking over the snow-capped peaks of our new backyard. Standing atop White Queen Peak, 4000km from Big City, Ontario, this moment represented a dream realized. The four of us had been plotting our return to BC for months, years…probably since the day we left. There was no need to pinch ourselves we could tell by our sweaty baselayers and frozen fingers that we were not asleep. Here we were, home in the Kootenays! Blue sky, beautiful scenery, gummy bears and good friends, what else could you ask for?.… Oh wait, untouched powder awaited us on the way down! Living the dream!
Beacon… check, probe… check, shovel… check, freshies… check, blue skies… check
