Sunny + Cold + Pow + Weekend
With a sunny weekend, cold temps and plenty of fresh pow still lying about the mountains it was time to get out and ski some spring lines. We spent Saturday at Whitewater Ski Resort skiing a line called West Ymir and then completed the boot pack up to half dome to enjoy one of the best descents of Scob's Knob we have had in a long time. It was nice to see the cold alpine temps hold up for another weekend and even better to see all the snow from mid week still in great shape.

On Sunday we decided to drive on up to Kootenay Pass to see what the backcountry still had to offer. After an early start we had the first car in the lot. We hit the up track on the north side of the highway and headed up to Cornice Ridge. We managed to cover quite a bit of terrain skiing South, West and North aspects. Unfortunately we didn't have time for an East facing lap which looked to offer up the best goods but what we did ski was pretty solid and super fun (if not a little challenging at times thanks to the afternoon sun from the day before). Our mission was to scout out more routes for the site and I think on all fronts things were successful - keep an eye out for an expanded Kootenay Pass section this spring. If you have any ski touring routes you can provide for the site have a look on over here and submit away.

It was a good time to get out and take advantage of the timing of sun, snow, cold and the weekend. Anyone else get out ski touring?
