What a difference a day makes
Wow...no wow, skied black queen again today and the conditions have definitly improved over Wed. The snow that came in was still good and the warm temps of Thuresday did not #^%%^*%^# the whole snow pack like some might have thought. Even going out this am the thoughts were what will the snow be like, will there be a crust or just heavy and schmmo. But the goods were in the down, snow was light for ( for our interior) and temps were cold at -8.6 on top of white queen. Winds were mod to hard from the west/southwest ( hard enough to total cover our up track on white queen in just 1 hour) We did not see the cracking of Wed that meant the pack was firming up. Even our ski out on white queen was enjoyable as you could feel a little of the crust under boot off the top but by midway down it was was just big wide gs's on a fine white. Nothing moved on us but the pockets and rolls will be the challenge so watch your micro terrain features. The CAA still has at high, considerable, considerable for the weekend so have fun and ski safe.
