Wind blasted Whales Back - for the Soap Box
Well you always have to have a few of those days a season, the "I should have known better" Rode the Whales Back off Evening Ridge today and thought hey, the new snow might have covered up the sun crust. Well it did but the wind had also done a job. Lots of varied density of snow from blower to stiff in under .5 seconds. After dropping off the most exposed part of the ridge the ride got a little better and the trees at the base of the spine seemed to be the best, with good carving GS turns in pow.
The stats are what I found 10 to 15mm of storm snow on a sun/ice crust. Ski pen only in the 15 and nothing below so on this south aspect the crust is very supportive. Temp was -4 on top and -2 in the valley. Wind was strong off the top and moderate in the valley, precip was S1.
Looks like the temps are going up so all this will go to ^&%&^% after tomorrow unless we get some cold but another reported 18cm for Wed Yahoooo
Enjoy
Whales Back on a better day... this was not today...........
